progress updates

We’re glad to see continued momentum around the Ironwood project and appreciate the recent coverage in Ferdinand News, January 29, 2026 edition, following the recent meeting of the Ferdinand Redevelopment Commission. The article shares where the project stands today and why expanding housing options is an important part of Ferdinand’s future.

Ironwood has been in the works since 2021, when Progressive Investment Company purchased and later annexed the property near Vienna Drive and SR 264. The land was rezoned in 2022 to allow for a mix of owner-occupied single-family homes and multifamily housing, all planned with long-term community needs in mind.

At the recent meeting, discussion focused on how the project would move forward and how infrastructure would be funded. As reported, Ironwood is planned in phases and supported through a READI 2.0 grant and a developer-purchased Tax Increment Financing bond. This structure is designed to fund needed improvements while placing financial risk on the developer rather than the town.

Commission members also talked about the bigger picture. Additional housing helps support local schools, strengthen community services, and create options for residents at different stages of life.

We’ll continue to share updates as the project progresses and look forward to keeping the community informed every step of the way.
